With the closing date for the 2010 Film G Awards now only a matter of days away, pupils from the Western Isles will be putting the final touches to the entries for this year’s competition.
MG ALBA launched Film G in 2008 with the aim of uncovering new talent for development on the Gaelic digital channel, BBC ALBA. Now in its third year the competition continues to go from strength to strength.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Gaelic Arts Development Officer have again been involved in providing organised training and support for the Western Isles schools who have taken part in Film G 2010.
The Nicolson Institute, Castlebay Community School, Sgoil Lionacleit and Sir E Scott have all been involved in creating their own short Gaelic films under the guidance of Iain F MacLeod.
Pupils are involved in every stage of the process, from the original concept for the film to the writing, filming, directing, acting and editing stages.
Having been successful in the first two year’s of the competition, it is hoped that the Western Isles schools will again be shortlisted for some of the main prizes this year.
