Businesses throughout the Hebridean Islands and West Highland mainland are being given the opportunity to widen their reach through an association with Cearcaill na Gàidhlig / The Gaelic Rings tourism initiative.
Cearcaill na Gàidhlig, The Gaelic Rings is inviting businesses of any category and size, be it accommodation providers, cafés, pubs, outdoor centres, local shops, tourist attractions, business services or community centres, to be part of their tourism initiative with a free business listing on their dedicated website
Launched in 2007, The Gaelic Rings tourism initiative promotes the richness of the Gaelic language and culture and highlights the important role Gaelic has played in Scotland’s past and more importantly, its relevance in today’s modern world.
The six routes of The Gaelic Rings take in the islands from Islay to Lewis and the mainland area from Kennacraig to Ullapool.
Joe MacPhee, Project Leader of Cearcaill na Gàidhlig / The Gaelic Rings and Head of Economic Development at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said: “The 2009 programme includes significant enhancements to The Gaelic Rings website including a new collection of travel and tour itineraries providing all transport options by road, ferry, plane and train.
“Hundreds of local businesses already support Cearcaill na Gàidhlig and we are delighted to be expanding our business network by offering local businesses the opportunity to become involved and showcase their business throughout the country and the rest of the world.”
To complement the website listing, all businesses will receive free marketing materials to help promote their involvement on a local level including literature and posters.
Enhancing The Gaelic Rings website, a number of the pages will be available in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Welsh, Irish Gaelic, Breton, Chinese and Japanese and as a result, will reach out to a global audience attracting visitors with a link and interest to Scotland’s Hebridean Islands and West Highland mainland.
