Following another hugely successful ceilidh trail throughout the Cairngorm National Park this summer the 8 young musicians take to the road again over the festive period performing a concert in Kingussie on Sunday 28th December 2008 at Talla Nan Ros. A recent get together in Newtonmore with Fraser Stone (Old Blind Dogs) saw the group create a great new jig set for them to air on tour next week. This, in addition to their hugely varied repertoire of tunes, instrumentation and songs promise some great nights entertainment. ‘They sound good, are raring to go and love the idea of performing over the Christmas period’ said Fraser.
The Cairngorms Cèilidh Trail was launched last year and is providing training and performance opportunities for young musicians from in and around the Park in traditional Highland music, dance and culture. The three-year project was set up by Feisean nan Gaidheal, the national association of the Feis movement and is managed by Feis Spe. Funding has been provided by the Cairngorm National Park Authority, Cairngorm Leader+, Feisean nan Gaidheal, Feis Spe and Aberdeenshire Council.
"The aim of the project is to encourage and inspire local musicians and music lovers and boost tourism through developing the area’s cultural potential’ explained Feisean nan Gaidheal Development Officer Nicola Marshall.’ With this in mind the group are performing from December 27 – 30 with a series of family concerts and ceilidh dances encouraging everyone to enjoy the music. You can hear pipes, flute, whistle, drums, accordion, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, keyboard, and song.
‘great band, super musicians, lovely friendly performers. Come back again next year please’ said an audience member Tomintoul.
